Our children, pure and simple, are sponges. They see, record, and absorb virtually everything that happens around them. While this makes me shudder just to think about it, this is actually good news. It means that, theoretically, we could radically transform this planet in optimistically three, realistically four, generations.
Why do we pass on such damaging thinking to our children? Perhaps it's because we haven't fully made peace with our own childhoods and forgiven the wounds that were inflicted on us.
Even before my daughter was born I figured out that the only parenting model I had to emulate was my own parents. Take my word for it…not the parenting style to write books about (which, ironically, I'm doing, so Mom and Dad, if you're reading this, and you should be since it's your son's first book, don't be offended...I will redeem you...somewhat...so keep reading).
